Consolidation -
generally involves adding up multiple data files to get a combined total. File/Combine from Lotus 123 or Excel
does this just fine. However, you may want to apply some special consolidating logic after the combining has taken
place, you may want to consolidate based on variable name only, and after consolidating you may want to generate
some "by row" and "by column" views to validate the results, or analyze the component parts
of the consolidation. AFMS, with the finance professional in mind, once again comes to the rescue.
